My Evolution in Electronic Literacy (Final)

Do you imagine a world without electronic literacy? I consider electronic literacy has been very important in my life. Since I started using electronic devices like computers, I optimized my time at doing homework, and at learning a second language. But I was not born knowing about electronic literacy, it was a long process for me to get involved in that. In addition I am always updating my knowledge about electronic tools.

I still remember the first computer I had; I was very excited and I used it to listen to music and to do homework. Of course I did not have internet; however, it was very fun for me to spend time working on my old computer. Months later, a cybercafé opened near my house, so I got interested in surfing the web. I started chatting with people from different countries, searching some information on Google, and downloading media (images, music, and videos), but it was very expensive to spend time there. I think it was because I did not have a lot of money.

Nowadays I have internet, and it has been very useful in my major. I have used many resources like Word processors, spreadsheets, and slide show designers when I present a topic or just to do homework. In addition I use blogs and forums to do some research about new topics and some aspects of the English language that I do not understand. Also I use internet to download a lot of media, so my computer is always connected to internet because it takes too much time downloading media. It does not means I be always in my computer, I just turn off the monitor and I go out. For these reasons I think electronic literacy is very important nowadays for my education.

I hope to learn more about electronic tools because technology evolves day by day. I imagine in my future applying new technologies and software to teach the English language. I think it will help me to add come fun to my teaching. It would be very funny teaching by webcam, projecting some videos and playing games based on special software. Also I would like to collect some useful electronic books to keep them in a virtual library. Although I do not have a large collection of electronic material now, I know I will have it in a future.

There are many characteristics of electronic literacy that make it important. Internet, word processors, and slideshows, are some important tools that I have used to improve my development in my career. Personally I see it like a world of possibilities, so I really like electronic literacy, because it has been very important in my life, and I am sure it will be important in the future.

I Think that Computers, internet, and cell phones, are becoming more popular tan other technologies, because of many reasons. The most important is that these technologies are useful in business and the others not so much. It is important to mention the contrast about the cell phone and a phone line. I think cell phone is being more popular every day because it allows mobility in a conversation in all cities. Also many people see it like a toy with many options like, to take pictures, or play games, and the funny thing is that young people uses more their cell phones for these reasons instead to talk to other people. On the other hand a normal phone line is not as useful because you cannot take it to other place. In addition both services are not very different about costs.
Other important thing to mention is that a computer is a world of possibilities. And it is a million times better in combination with the internet. With this combination you can talk with other people, watch videos and tv channels from other countries and cable channels. So I think that is the reason why this pair is replacing other technologies.
Internet around the world has many differences, but it is hard to consider all the aspects why are so much difference. I think in Mexico many people uses internet for business, however young people only uses internet for some aspects: watch videos, download music and visit social webs.
Other aspect to consider is that Mexico is not a country with advanced technologies. In addition meanwhile most of people in Mexico with internet have a velocity of 1Mb, in Korea the velocity of internet is almost 45 Mb. I think that it is easy to understand that kind of countries are very competitive in business terms. Different from Mexico, that many people have jobs that not require even having a computer.

Introductory Essay

Do you know what a meloman is? It is a person who loves music. Some people think I am crazy about music, but I think it is one of the things that make me special. I cannot imagine a world without music because I have been always surrounded by it. In my life I have learned how to play basic musical instruments, and I have written some songs. In addition, my job as a DJ, is very important for me.

Six years ago, I liked to play music, but I did not know how. Then when I bought my first guitar, I started to learn to play music. Since then I have played music just for fun and now, I know how to play guitar, piano, drums bass. Although I am not an expert, people like the way I play music. They say I am a lyric musician because I can play a song by just listening to it, on the other hand, I do not know how to read musical sheets. I think my practice is important because it has been reflected on the applause of the audience when I have a presentation. Although I have not won many contests, I have had the opportunity to appear in EXA FM, Aguascalientes TV, and Azteca 7.

Since I learned how to play music, I started to write songs. So far I have 10 written songs and they talk about my life experiences. Some of them talk about God as in “Total Expression”, and “My Protection”. They are very important for me, specially “Total Expression”, because it was the first song I wrote in a very had moment of my life. Others songs are fun like “Intro” that is a song that does not have lyrics, and does not mean anything, just the love for music. To record my songs I have had to learn how to use special software for music production, and I consider it is very funny to play with the musical effects to dive emphasis in some parts of the songs.

After I got involved in musical production I started to take advantage of that. Today I am a professional DJ and I mix all kind of music for all kind of parties Now have my youtube channel where I have uploaded some experiments about remixes, crossovers, covers, and instrumentals from popular music. I think it has been well accepted by the audience because of the many good opinions and good rating.

For all those reasons I consider music an important part of my life. Not only because it is lovely, but also because it is my job. Then, I cannot imagine my world without music. I listen to music since I wake up until I fall asleep. So, yes I am a meloman, and I always will be it.
